Get Involved
There are lots of ways to get involved in village life in Barlaston, take a look below at some of the ways to get involved.
Barlaston Womblers
The Barlaston Womblers are a group of people who care about the environment and want to live in a village which is clean, tidy and free from litter.
The aim of the group is to increase awareness of the huge impact that rubbish has on wildlife and to encourage a sense of pride in our surroundings. Recent studies show that living and working in a clean and tidy environment encourages an overall sense of happiness and wellbeing and leads to good mental health. Litter-picking is therefore a win-win situation – you are doing your bit for the community but it’s also good for you!
Please come along and give it a try, we have converted many residents to the joys of litter-picking and the Womblers are a diverse and friendly bunch. We will also be supplying tea/coffee and probably a cake or two at the end!
We will supply picks, bags and high viz jackets where necessary. Look out for more information on our Facebook page and on our website or telephone Michala Black on 01782 373554 for more details.
Pop-up Supper & Parties
The Barlaston Community Group have several pop-up suppers through the year & would welcome ideas for occasions & themes as well as help on the night. If you’d like to organise one and/or help with the catering, please let us know!
'Clean a Road Sign' Weekend
1st- 4th May was ‘Clean a Road Sign’ weekend and we encouraged all Barlaston residents to take a bucket of hot soapy water outside and clean a sign near their house. Look at the wonderful effort they put in!
Community Working Parties
Barlaston Community Group organise various working parties to clear undergrowth and tidy up our village, these are usually accompanied by tea and cake! If you would like to join one of our working parties please get in contact.
Christmas shopping trips have taken place to Liverpool & Chester over the last couple of years & as interest grows the BCG will consider summer trips too. They have been great fun with mulled wine & a mince pie on the return journey followed by a sing-along of popular tunes & carols!
Bus Trips
Barlaston Village Show
The Barlaston Village Show Committee is having a break at the moment after organising some very large-scale events over the last few years! They hope that everyone who attended the 2019 Show and Fete had a really good time & ideas are being considered for Post COVID. Watch this space for updates.

Along with a brand new Garden Club which includes talks from expert speakers, garden trips, workshops & quizzes. Help keep Barlaston Clean, Tidy & Litter Free!
Fly tipping, dropping litter, dog fouling, graffiti, fly posting and vandalism are all dealt with by the Streetscene Team at Stafford Borough Council. Reporting is easy - telephone the Streetscene department direct on 01785 619401 or email info@staffordbc.gov.uk. Providing as much information as possible regarding the nature of the problem as well as the location and if possible the postcode, will help Streetscene allocate the appropriate resources. If members of the team are in the area the information will be responded to immediately, or within 2-3 days depending on the issue. Stafford Borough Council cover approximately 230 square miles and predominantly rely on members of the public to highlight local problems - help them to help us!
