WARM SPACE (Sue Tudor)

In June, the group enjoyed a lovely Summer Lunch at the Upper House and a talk from Dr Asagawa on his missionary trip to Nigeria, and finally we had a visit and tasting from Wiltshire Farm Foods.
In July, Silver Surfer Tony on the 10th July is talking about Scams and how to protect your mobile from being hacked. On the 17th July it will be quizzes and puzzles.
Also starting on every last Friday in the month there will be prize Bingo with Neil.
Coming up:
Flower arranging with Jill and in September we are having a Factory Tour of Wedgwoods with a light lunch.
The Barlaston Warm Space is every Friday Morning between 9.30am and 11.30am at Barlaston Health Centre. Always home made cake and all the tea and coffee you can drink. Open to all.
Tip of the month. Did you know over 75's swim free at Stone Leisure Centre.
STROLLERS & STRIDERS
The STROLLERS & STRIDERS stayed local for the first walk on June 3rd & on 17th both groups had fabulous walks around the Sandon Estate. We had good weather, beautiful views & there were a few knees on show! There were some tricky manoeuvres over a stile but no lasting damage. Refreshments at the Dog & Doublet were very welcome at the end!
July walks will be on the 1st and 15th. Meet at the Plume of Feathers car park ready to set off at 10 o’clock prompt.
We walk on the 1st & 3rd Wednesday of each month and new members are always welcome.
If you’d like to know more please contact Sandie (Group Leader) on 07496 088544.
The SILVER SURFERS team comprising Tech Gurus Steve and Tony, ably supported by Andrew, were in the Ruth Dickson room (to the rear of the Village Hall) as usual, on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month.
We now take a Summer break until 10th September, but you can call our Gurus to make a home appointment if you have any tech problems: 07783 009194. 💻📱☕😊
RUBBISH NEWS:
The BARLASTON WOMBLERS are still tackling the national problem of litter and can always be recognised by their happy expression (Wombling is soooo satisfying!!) and the tell-tale green bag they carry! HUGE THANKS as always to ALL our Womblers & in particular to regulars Joe & Heather, Mandy, Margaret & Gordon, Andrew M and Soph. Toby and Henry are still working towards their Duke of Edinburgh certificates.
If you, or someone you know might be interested in getting involved, please ask them to email the barlastoncommunitygroup@gmail.com and we can have a chat.
Please check out the Barlaston Womblers Facebook Group if you’d like to join the fight against litter and remember there is a regular supply of green bags at the Dougie Mac shop.

Facebook Photo Competition: Congratulations to VIV O’DUNNE for her community blast from the past! The year was 2005 and the 20 residents pictured here spent every Saturday for a year training as First Responders❣️ What a perfect depiction of ‘COMMUNITY SPIRIT’. The group completed their Observer shifts, passed all their exams and made lifelong friends along the way🤗 Under the leadership of Lynne Coates they raised enough money to buy and kit out Barlaston’s two Responder cars! A true Feel Good story behind the winning photo - THANK YOU VIV & a massive WELL DONE to all the group🤩😇👏👏👏. Next month’s theme is ‘IN THE GARDEN’ - a shady spot, a beautiful plant, anything at all in your garden - we’d love to see it❣️
A Joyful New Chapter for Barlaston – June 2026
We had a very exciting time at St John the Baptist Church in Barlaston on Wednesday evening 24th June. Our new Vicar, the Rev Helen Duckett was licensed. It was a grand occasion with people from the church and the Village coming together. We welcomed the Chair of Barlaston Parish Council, David Borasinski and Headteacher John Gordon from Barlaston School and many other guests.
