August is expected to stay Hot, Hot, Hot - keep applying that sun block ‼️
Barlaston Running Club : Weekly, evening local runs, please contact them through the Community Hub Facebook page.

The BARLASTON IN BLOOM group is gathering momentum - there have been a couple of open gardens this month and the visit to ‘John’s Garden’ in Kingswinford on the 11th July was very much appreciated. The impeccably maintained garden delivered differently themed areas and a wide variety of plants, a few of which were purchased from the nursery Let us know if you are interested in joining the group.
STROLLERS & STRIDERS
There have have been two lovely walks this month! On the first Wednesday of the month (1st July) the groups stayed local and enjoyed a local walk along the canal & back through the Downs. The second walk on the 15th ( the third Wednesday of the month) we walked from Aston Marina, along the canal tow path and through the village of Aston-By-Stone. The groups ended the walk with well-deserved refreshments at Aston Marina. Thanks as always to the Walk Leaders and everyone who took photos. Please look at our Facebook Page, or the Barlaston Community Hub, f you’d like to see more pics❣️ August walks will be on the 5th and 19th August - meet at the Plume of Feathers carpark, ready to walk at 10am if you’d like to join us - we look forward to seeing you❣️😁🥾😎
We walk on the 1st & 3rd Wednesday of each month and new members are always welcome. Please contact Sandie (Group Leader) on 07496 088544 for more info.
The SILVER SURFERS team comprising Tech Gurus Steve and Tony, ably supported by Andrew, are on Summer break until 10th September, but you can call our Gurus to make a home appointment if you have any tech problems: 07783 009194. 💻📱☕😊
RUBBISH NEWS:
The BARLASTON WOMBLERS are still seen regularly out and about in the village and we have a couple of new volunteers this month - welcome Steve Doncaster who has already been out and about in the village filling several bags and Queenie Katy B who noticed the increase in litter since starting the Barlaston Community Run Club😲‼️ Mandy of course is still busy as are Joe & Heather Poultney, Margaret & Gordon, Andrew M, Soph with regular contributions from Stephen 2-Buckets!
THANK YOU wonderful Womblers - you’re doing a great job👏👏👏
If you, or someone you know might be interested in getting involved, please ask them to email the barlastoncommunitygroup@gmail.com and we can have a chat.
Please check out the Barlaston Womblers Facebook Group if you’d like to join the fight against litter and remember there is a regular supply of green bags at the Dougie Mac shop.

Facebook Photo Competition: Ribitt ‼️🐸🐸🐸 the WINNER this month was TIM GREEN‼️ His quirky image of a frog just peeping through the pond weed deciding what to have for breakfast was a runaway favourite - Fabulous💚⚠️🥇👏👏. There was stiff competition so a massive Well Done to Tim and Thank You to all our entrants & voters❣️
We’re staying outside for next month’s theme, & to support the Bigbutterflycount.org we’ve chosen ‘BUTTERFLIES IN BARLASTON’ 🦋🌸☀️🤗
Our new vicar, Helen has been going around getting to know people and some of the different groups. More to say in September!

BARLASTON MARKETS
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our July market at the Village Hall and on the village green on Saturday 25th. We had some lovely feedback about the market which makes us super excited for our two remaining big markets of the year.
We are doing something a little different for our September and November markets and we are going big with the help of a market partner. Our September market on Sat 26th will be a collaboration with Barlaston First School who have their summer fair on the same day and our market profits will be donated to the school PTA. In November, Sat 28th, we will be collaborating with St John's Church for a dual site Christmas market featuring a choir performance and a visit from Santa.
If you'd like to visit our market sooner our popular mini market is on the second Wednesday of the month as usual, open 10am-midday, at Barlaston Methodist Church. There are usually around 10 stalls and we serve free refreshments (cake anybody?).
We are also really pleased with our online auction fundraising which has enabled us to donate £65.50 to Barlaston Village Hall this month from our June auction. This brings our online auction fundraising total to £350.50 for the year to date.
